Regular liquid soap does fuck up one's skin. I once tried Ivory liquid soap as a sexual lubricant for use with my fake pussy, and it ended up drying my dick's skin like hell. There were all these soap flakes on my dick cuz I didn't thoroughly wash the soap off with hot water and just wiped it off with some wet paper towels and some dry paper towels. Specifically designed-for-sensitive-skin liquid soaps like Cetaphil work pretty good as a sexual lubricant. It's supposedly a "gentle skin cleanser" that "softens as it cleanses", is kinda expensive at $12.99 for a 16 oz. plastic bottle at Merrill's. I bought a container a coupla months ago.
